Our next rider challenge

Ride across the

Pyrenees in 100 hours

So Kelly's Heroes love a big challenge and they've set another ride one for this year. The team including John Hewitt, Lee Foster and Mark Buckby will see them take on the brutal trek of 450 miles and 44,000ft of climbing in just 100 hours.

Thank you to  Marmot Tours, for helping us with our fundraising and letting us use their images.

Day 1: Hendaye to Oloron-St-Marie

Our 100 hours start at 9 am!

We first cycle through the picturesque Basque country with a couple of small cols as a warm up. A lunch stop in the historic town of St-Jean-Pied-de-Port.

The Col d’Osquich (495m) is the main climb of the day before we descend and undulate on pretty quiet roads through small quaint villages to finish our first day in Oloron-St-Marie.

Day 2: Oloron-St-Marie to La Mongie

We set off to climb the beautiful Col d’Aubisque (1709m).  After lunch we continue across the spectacular balcony road that leads to the Col du Soulor with glorious views.

An epic descent brings us to the lively market town of Argelès-Gazost, from here we press on up the valley to Luze-Saint-Saveur, which is at the base of the mighty and much-feared Col du Tourmalet (2115m) – a Tour de France classic …

This is a giant climb and after 18km and 1400m of climbing, we'll be at the top of the highest col (with a road surface) in the Pyrenees.

We then rest for the night in the ski town of La Mongie.

Day 3: La Mongie to St-Lizier

The morning kicks off with the long descent to Campan, which takes us to the gorgeous and peaceful climb over the Col d’Aspin (1489m).

We then take on another infamous col and Tour de France regular, the Peyresourde (1569m) . We then have  the best descent in the Pyrenees, all the way down to Luchon.

Next we're through the quiet and very pretty Col des Ares (797m) and the Col de Buret (599m). But then the slightly terrifying 14% incline of the Col de Portet d’Aspet (1069m)

After this we have a gentler ride for the remaining 35km to rest in St-Lizier. Chapeau

Col de Port (1249m) in the morning before our descent to Tarascon. From here we climb up the Pas de Soulombrie (922m) and on to the scenic ‘Route des Corniches’ on what must be one of the most stunning roads in the Pyrenees.

From the Col de Marmare (1377m) we enjoy another spectacular descent across high plateaux and into wonderful deep gorges .Then onto a 19km climb of the Col de Jau (1506m)

Ending the day with a magnificent descent towards the Mediterranean plain and the town of Prades.

Our finish deadline is 1pm, and we have nearly 100km and some steep coastal undulations to take on!

We join the coast road in Argelès-sur-Mer. We pass through the historic port town of Collioure before reaching our final destination in Cerbère.

We have hopefully made it by 1pm for our 100 hours in five days of epic cycling.
